Artist Statement

Materials: these paintings are built to last, stay flat, never expand or contract despite temperature and humidity changes and never flake.  3/4" sign painters MDO, sealed on all 6 sides, then multiple coats of lead white oil ground on the motif surface. Paints used are classic Vernet oil paints and Chelsea Studio mediums. A protective reversible Laropal varnish/ Consevar wax top coat.

Technique: I mix a prismatic blend of transparent oil paints.  I apply an overall coat to the lead white oil ground. The motif is then created using subtractive painting methods. This allows the brightest sense of light possible with paint, and allows me to create a perfect Notan using only variations in values. The shadows are all transparent and the light is opaque. The glow you see is not photoshopped or enhanced in any way. They glow with love in any light. 

The motif originates in meditation and is esoragoto;: a soul dream from within.
